"A very,very full two days ....time no object.
He provided the means to open me out to change the settings on the camera and experiment.
The Photoshop advise and teaching was something one can't get from a book, ie the on hand advice which was perfect.
Subtractive lighting was something I had no idea about but now understand its merits.
The provision of a model (whose name I forget) to demonstrate lighting in different forms was great (hope she will comment on my photos).
The use of RAW and its conversion process means my monochrome photos are stronger.
Very considerate of meal times and ample coffee and conversation to keep me going.
 
I was given the spark which I needed to get on and do it ...just what I needed.  All I need now is some better weather and space to press on..."
   

Please Note:

The prices do not include meals or accommodation; these can be arranged if required.
For landscape courses please bring waterproof walking shoes and suitable clothing, just in case it does rain!

A digital SLR can be hired for £10.00 per day if required.

All editing is done on Photoshop CS2 unless you have a preference, i.e. Elements 1, 2, 3, etc.

 

  • All courses are designed for one to one tuition, no crowded groups.
  • Courses can be run for more than one person if part of a group or relations.
  • Coffee/Tea making facilities are available, please let me know if you have a preference for specific milks etc.
  • All courses are flexible in start and finish times, generally all courses tend to run on longer than advertised. Start times 9:30am to 5:00pm.
  • Serious fun will be had by all.....

Digital Landscape Courses:
1 Day Course:
  • Power Point Presentation covering the basics of equipment, aperture, composition, lighting & filters, etc.
  • Question & Answer Session.
  • Practical out and about.
  • Lunch.
  • Look at images in the afternoon with some basic editing.

2 Day Landscape Course is the same as the 1 day course with a practical out and about on the second morning, then more advance editing and printing in the afternoon.

Half day Digital editing course using Photoshop elements & Photoshop CS2:
9:30 till 1:00 or 1:30 till 5:00.
 
This course covers the basics:
 
  • Setting your camera for the best results.
  • Workflow for editing. 
  • File formats – JPG vs. TIFF & PSD
  • White Balance.
  • Basic Colour Correction.
  • Basic Editing, Marquee, Lasoo Tool, Cropping etc.
  • Sharpening
  • Saving your files, compression etc.

Full day Digital Editing course.
 
The full day course goes more into the editing side, and using layers to apply adjustments etc.

Advanced Digital Editing Course.
This one day course is designed for people already with a basic knowledge who want to enhance their skills
 by using layers and advance techniques
as well as the use of plugin filters for black & white conversions, soft focus etc.
